Welcome to Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer
ROSEMERE Golfers Against Cancer was founded in 2001 by enthusiastic amateur
Keith McIntosh, who hails from Leyland in Lancashire.
Keith, keen to combine his interest in golf with his continuing support
for the Preston-based Rosemere Cancer
Foundation, gathered golfing friends and business contacts with the
idea of setting up a golf-based fund-raising group. He then set about
promoting RGAC's activities around the golf clubs of Central Lancashire.
Significant links were established with a similar but much larger organisation,
Golfers Against Cancer, based in Houston, Texas. Keith began corresponding
with Sally Roberts, a member of their board. On a visit to the UK, Sally
attended the 2002 Annual Rosemere Golf Day at Shaw Hill Golf & Country
Club, Chorley. Thus began an ongoing relationship between the two charities
which has continued to grow. Indeed, a group of 10 Rosemere golfers travelled
to Houston for their 2004 Annual Golf Tournament and Banquet, an impressive
event which raised over 1.5 million dollars.
Since then, Keith's group have reached an agreement for the Rosemere Golfers
to use the official name and logo of Golfers
against Cancer - and for some years now they have been delighted to
promote themselves as Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer.
Founder Keith McIntosh explained: "One of the main aims of Rosemere Golfers
Against Cancer is to promote the Rosemere Cancer Foundation to Golf Club
Captains and Presidents at the clubs around the Lancashire and South Cumbria.
We want to encourage them to adopt Rosemere as one of their charities
for their respective years of office. Another priority is to build a network
of corporate supporters, to encourage local companies, event organisers
and golf societies to adopt Rosemere as a chosen charity".

RGAC - Endorsement
The Rosemere Cancer Foundation are almost totally reliant on donations to fund patient welfare,
equipment, research and training and the Golfers Against Cancer Group help us enormously to
achieve our aims.
They are growing from strength to strength, not only fundraising through golfing events, but
increasing our profile by their excellent promotion.
They epitomise everything about charity fundraising: ensuring fun, enjoyment, competitiveness and
friendship but with the serious business of raising money to support our cancer patients in
Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Knowing everyone associated I can confidently say that if you have any
interest in golf and would like to support Rosemere, contact them and
you will receive a warm and encouraging welcome. (Anne Sweeney, Community
Fundraising Co-ordinator)
